Making Time for Everyone in Your Life

It’s another week and it seems like everyone wants to hang out this week. That’s how it goes right? Everyone wants to hang out with you the same week, and then the next week you’re sitting at home binge watching a show on Netflix because you have nothing else to do. Making time for everyone in your life can be hard, especially if you’re trying to balance the relationships of partners, friends, family and meet-ups. Below I share some tips and tricks for making time for everyone in your life. The key to a healthy relationship is making time for different people, but also making time for each other.

Make Plans

I know this one may seem obvious, but a lot of people still don’t make plans and are super go with the flow. They’ll then get upset when people can’t hang out or can’t find time to hang out with everyone. Forcing people to make plans will help you be able to hang out with more people. When you know you have set plans with someone one day, you won’t have to worry about trying to make plans with someone else that day and can now make plans with someone else a different day. Planning equals more people you get to make time for. Don’t double book people. That’s just messed up.

Setting a Clear Schedule

I know it may seem like a diva move, but using a calendar to keep track of everything going on week by week each month will really help you visually see when you have time to hang out with people. Having a set schedule with work makes it really easy to know exactly when you can hang out. I know with some industries this can be hard, but even when I was working as a server in a restaurant, I was able to request a semi-permanent schedule and I got my schedule a week in advance. Even if you just use a calendar to write down your schedule week to week, that helps a ton when it comes to planning things. Once you can visually see when you have time to hang out with people, find out who has that time available to hang out too and make plans with them.

Communicate

Have clear communication with everyone. Let everyone know your schedule and when you’re available to hang out so that they know. This will make it clear to everyone that you’re not just blowing them off and distancing yourself away from them. Communication is key. If you need to reschedule, let them know as soon as you know. Time is everything. You don’t want to disrespect someone by disrespecting their time. Let people know why you can or cannot hang out certain days. They’ll be understanding if you “keep it 100” and are honest with them.

This has all helped me with keeping healthy relationships with friends and family. Making time for everyone in your life will make you the happiest because you’ll get to see all the people you like or love the most as much as possible.
